Can you clarify "the engine turned before i attach it to the tranny?" Not sure how that would make it not start or move though. The wheels will do that, did it to me. Did the torque converter spin freely when you reconnected it?
hmmmmm, and how do i check to see if the torque converter turns. i mean its bolted to the flex plate so all i see is it turnin with the engine

No other way really for the reason you listed because if it is bolted up to the plate and you turn that with whatever tool you use, it will force the converter to spin, though not necessarily freely. You just have to check it and then check it again right before you bolt it back up. I reached in through the starter cutout after getting the tranny in place but before bolting the plate back up to ensure it still moved freely. Any little jolt can cause it to sort of stick.
