Mine squeals bad too when it's cold. I'm just going to replace mine instead of cranking on the tensioner, etc. I don't want to run the risk of overdoing anything and ruining pulley bearings or anything else. Besides, I don't know how long they've been on the car. Just me.

-The only time my belt squealed was during the winter when temps were dropping below zero. Besides that, not a peep. That is unless I'm lucky enough to drive through a huge puddle and the water hits the belt.

Ha you should see my cover that keeps crap away from the serpetine belt on the passanger side near the tire. The crankshaft has been eating it like crazy cuz only one bolt is holding it.

these cars dont have serpentine belts... well any of the ones i had didnt... they have 2 belts, one to run the alternator, which can be adjusted, and one to run the AC and PS which runs on an Idler.... on your alt belt check to see how tight it is... see if it will give just half an inch or so an it should be fine, but with the other belt, if its stretched, youll need a new one cause you can adjust it cause the idler does it for you.... and it sucks cause the only way i could figure out how to loosen the idler is with a pry bar... theres a little lip on the top of the pully that you can pry on to loosen.....its hard.... these engines are made to be worked on outside the car haha.. there is a place where you can put a 3/8 ratchet in to loosen it, but if the engine is still int he car you can fit a ratchet in there... bull****.. yes i know lol, WHERE THERES A WILL THERES A WAY... use a big pry bar on the top... try pulling that belt off of the PS AC and see if it stops, if so, change it.

The belt that goes from the alt, crank pulley, tensioner is the serpetine belt dude. This isn't a 86 dodge ram it doesn't just have v belts. My 01 neon has a serpetine belt and so did my 88 dynasty.

ok soooooooooo
A serpentine belt is a single, continuous belt used to drive multiple peripheral devices in an automotive engine, such as an alternator, power steering pump, water pump, A/Ccompressor, air pump, etc. The belt may also be guided by an idler pulley and/or a belt tensioner.

and yes my pulley cover at the bottom on the passengers side is cracked too.this is a weak spot on the neons and i will be putting a plate there this spring.
