I have an 04 neon sxt and am wondering where I can get a hold of a programmer to remove the cut off point in the computer... On my speedometer it will say 120 max but once it gets to 110 or so it wont go any faster even though the engine isnt even straining... A friend of mine says that it is a set limit in the computer so I am wondering how to remove it...

im not sure but i don't think u need to cut any thing off i think they sell chips that you can replace or add on to stop that... im not to sure tho... but if your trying to get like top performance and stuff u can get a programable computer but i think you need alot of experience for a thing like that i dunno. and it can be costly.

The only way to get rid of your top speed limiter is to get a new computer. Modern Performance has Mopar computers for the first gen. Neon and Howell Automotive has computers for the 1st and 2nd gen. Neons.
My car wont have any problems reaching 120 though. It will just creep when it reaches the 115 area. The fastest I've been was about 115 in the 4th gear (5th gear is useless when maxing out with a manual transmission). Stupid limiters[:@]
Check out www.modernperformance.com and also check out www.howellautomotive.com

There is no computers whatsoever for the 03 and up neon yet. I have no idea if there is any plans for anyone to come out with one. Your neon will go past 110, mine goes by 110 like it isn't anything. I believe someone over on neons.org figured out how to get rid of the speed limiter, but still no pcm upgrade. Just use 4th gear from 90mph on and your car should go past it, unless I got a magical car with more power then everyone elses. Your car will cut off at about 118-120mph...I've hit it before. When you hit the speed limiter it kind of lurches forward and then stops accelerating.![EEK!](https://dodgeforum.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I could of kept going, it was still accelerating.

i don't know how to drive a manual but i plan on learning for my next car but why would u stay in fourth and not go to fifth gear ?? so the rpms stay higher and you get more power from the engine ??

yeah it would if the motor had the power to take it to redline on a stock motor. ANd if you did modify enough to redline in 4th, you woild hit the speed limiter at 120ish before you need to shift. On a car that is modified and has a performance PCM, yes you would shift into 5th, at about 127-130mph.
