Default Tranny Swap

I have a 00 neon with a shot auto tranny and i want to know the best way to go about swapping in a stick would be. If there are any threads posted already about this or any links to sites with help, that would be greatly appreciated.

I have no idea, but I am very interested in a transmission swap as well... Auto to manual.

Yea that would be sweet to do, but the cost for fab work would be alot plus rear suspension.

It would take a bit of fabrication... But its easier than most think, especially when there is a RWD tranny combination that is a bolt on.

Making the driveshaft tunnel larger and supporting the rear end would be the hardest part. Fabbing driveshafts and motor mounts are easy. (I did alot of that in my past life)

I have a friend in the design phase of putting a built 2.0l dodge motor with the liberty/supra tranny combo in his miata. Plan on using an old 70's celica rear end on it.

anything is possible...

Your 2000 neon leaves you with some research to do. I say this because 5sp 2000 neons came with a cable bell housing like the 1g neons. Have been told the pedal assembly for the 5sp 2000 was unique to this car only. Have not seen it or compred it to the 1G pedal setup so that could be a hurdle for you.

That being said, everything else is standard of this swap:

manual transmission with 2G mount
clutch
throw out bearing
passenger side axle
reverse plug sensor and pigtail
5sp pcm
clutch cable if using cable bell housing
5sp pedal assembly

This is true ^ still making the first RWD Neon would be cool and not the guy who put the power train in the back like on youtube. but actually a real RWD. Yea I would go with the supra trans they are basically indestructible.
