Default change the oil

I bought my first brand new car ever! THE NEON woooot wooot. Anyway i changed the oil at 400 miles to mobil 1 synthetic. Some people told me you have to leave the factory oil in for a while, and some say it doesn't matter. does it really matter?

You have to leave the regular oil in for like 5000 miles. Change it back, Synthetic is so slick that the engine will not break in correctly and you will have problems. It might even void your warenty.

I changed mine over to synthetic at 6,000 miles. I've had no problems whatsoever with it. I've got 18,000 some miles now.[:@][&:]

Yeah you won't have any problems, but you need to break the motor in before you goto synthetic, he changed over at 400 miles on the car. Thats not a good thing. You need to break the motor in or it will be too tight and put a strain on things down the road. Plus you have to treat it like a new engine untill you break it in.

Yeah...something like that. I don't drive like that anymore. My car begs for me to step on it.

On dry pavement I very rarely shift before 4500 unless I am at the speed I want to go.
