2000 Gas Mileage?
Just out of curiosity, which gas do you think gets the best milage in a 2004 SXT? Right now, I'm putting in the 87, as it's the cheapest. I'm slightly disapointed with my gas milage in the city(mostly due to my lead foot, I think,) but I get great milage on the highway. Would I do even better with 89 or 93? I'd hate to spend more on the gas than the better milage would benefit me, though.
You won't do any better with a higher octane. It's possibile to get worse actually. The compression in the engine isn't high enough to have to worry about those higher end gases. The motor was optimized to run on good old 87 octane. You are literally burning your money up if you put a higher octane in.

I drive a long route to work every day (about 75 miles round trip), plus drive out of town a lot. As a result, my driving is about 90% highway. The terrain I drive on is very hilly, and I get a consistent 28 MPG driving at between 70-80 MPH. It's interesting that on the couple of tanks that I tried at a lower speed (55-65 MPH), my mileage actually dropped. The only reason I can figure for this is the hilly terrain. When I am driving at the lower speeds, the car has to down shift for a lot of the hills. If I'm driving at the higher speeds, it just stays in over drive the whole time.
