Well once again guys I'm back with another problem. My tranny gave out on me tonight. Wasn't doing anything stupid, then boom it was gone. cant shift nothing. just a big *** square in the middle of my car it seems. the tranny wont find a gear feels like itdoesnt even have any. my question is that, does it need to be rebuilt? new one? Or what. wouldn't know need expert advice. Either a rebuilt or a new is the same thing. Both will fix your problem. Rebuilt will be cheaper though.

 

heh. almost sounds like both of the shifter bushings in the engine bay where it connects to the tranny are gone.

Dealer would have them. Probably cost you more then they're worth. Auto parts store might have them as well. I got mine from modern performance. Booger bushings...they work great.

Are you saying the shifter won't move right, or that the shifter is fine and the trans is bad?

 

no the tranny is fine, i thought i screwed up lastnight, but it all came out ot be the shifter bushing. so I rigged it to get her home, and tommorrow ill just go buy new shifter bushing, the tranny seems to be fine over all.

 

Check the bushings on the tranny and on the shifter. They could be messed up on either side. I would recommend when you do get some new bushings that you make sure you put a bit of oil or some lubricant on the bushings to make them easier to slide on. Mine were sort of hard to get on. Make sure you get them on there all the way....I had one bushing that was slightly off and I had a hard time shifting into 3rd gear. Until I ripped up my center console and found that one bushing wasn't completely on their all the way, took it off and put it back on and it shifts super smooth into every gear now.

 

im trying to find a set og new shifter bushings and i called the dealer yesterday, they want to rape me on them, they said that i have to buy a whole new shifter cable for the bushing which costs around 180 dollars.
