Default First Major Problem (maybe)

I've got a 2005 Neon SXT with about 56,000 miles on it. I've been about preventative maintenance for the most part. My CEL came up. The code is 302. The dealership says there is low compression on cylinder 2 about 60 psi. They're quoting my a $1200 price tag. They say it may be a burned ED valve. They also recommend changing the water pump and the timing belt when it shouldn't be due til around 100k miles.
It liked to hear from some of you guys as to what seems reasonable vs. what isn't. Anything help would be greatly appreciated!

Did they do a compression test and if they did whats the results on the other cylinders. You can get a lot of mile out of the timing belts 56,000 is nothing. I would wait on the belt. More than likely it just needs a tune up.

They did the compression test. The other cylinders come in at 140psi. I've had the spark plugs, wires, and ignition coil replaced before.

if they are gonna take of the head they have too take of the timing belt anyway just make sure they don't charge you labor for the timing belt or else when you have too change it in 40k then you are gonna pay labor again
