PO 171 Fuel System Lean 1/1
This is the code that came on on my 04 Sxt dodge neon. After driving a couple of miles it acts like there's no fuel going into the engine. But when you press the gas pedal very slowly it tends to take off alot better.
Question...is my fuel pump going out or is it just the filter? Help! I've checked the fuel lines and the injectors, but nothing wrong. I reset the pcm and it flashed the same code after driving a couple of miles again. Anybody had the same problem as mines?

The two most common causes, of which I've seen and fixed both, is either a dirty MAFS or a vacuum leak. There is another, somewhat recent thread where I explained a fair amount about this code. Might want to check it out. The way you describe it, seems to be more of a vacuum problem (accelerating slowly and it's fine), but check both and find that other thread.
