Another Electrical issue
2002 neon SE. You can be driving or whatever and suddenly the car will lose power to all systems. The tires will chirp and the motor will die. Sometimes the motor will start right back up (without hitting the key) while coasting. When this happens no accessories (lights, blinkers, radio, etc.) will work. It died once and my son swears he shook the Power dist. box and power was restored to the car. I have had this box apart and checked all connections to fuses and relays. I sprayed contact cleaner to connectors and reseated fuses/relays. I am just wondering if there is a single fuse/relay that, when tripped, will disconnect power to the entire car? The battery is new and positive/negative cables and ends are good. I disconnected the main computer and [some accessories] still have power. Can it be the computer? How many ground points does this car have? I pulled apart the dash and did not find any melted wires or connectors. I looked at the MFS connector and did not see any signs of melting or damage. What have I overlooked?
The problem isn't a relay. With engine running I removed them, one at a time. There is not a relay that will remove power to everything. Unplugging the computer will not even do that. I looked at the ground cables and they appear to be good. I am going to run an additional ground to the frame.
