Snow Tires?

Snow Tires?
For all of you who live in the northern part heres a ?
Do you run snow tires, and what brand. I ask because I won a set of Hankook I pike 409 and want to know if it is worth buying an extra set of wheels for these, or should I just stick with the Bridgestone SE 200 that I have on there now. This car was lousy in the snow until I put those on. It is still not great. Much worse than my 3.0 Shadow, and even worse than my 93 Escort wagon. I ran the SE200s on both of them, too.

Yes, I run snow tires. I would either be in the ditch right now or my car wouldn't leave my garage with my other tires. My area averages around 100+ inches a year. I happen to have Hankook W404s I believe is the model. I believe they replaced my model with the pikes. If I won a set I would definitely pick up a set of wheels for them. You could probably get some steel wheels for what....150-200 bucks (just guessing)? Maybe less if you search around. My snow tires have paid for themself. They have helped to extend my other tires life because I only use them about 6 months a year and they have kept me out of the ditch and wrecks so far.

My 04 sxt runs always with all season performance tires which are just right for snow and dont go out in ice. We had a really bad winter last yr so far we have not had any snow here just flurries. I have goodyear eagle gts. Which I won for a door prize at a show this yr.

oh dont get me started on that garbage goodyear LS crap that comes stock. or any Goodyear for that matter, even if I won them I wouldnt put them on my worst enemy's car.
my neon has the 15' wheels for summer, in winter I use a 14' rim with a taller, narrower tire. the circumfrence of the squatty 15's and the tall 14's are almost identical so no change on speedo or wheel speed sensors.
ohya I believe the snows are cheap Nokia (have to check model) but really good grip. I think the only way I'd have better traction is to go to studs

Hey the goodyears I have were brand new for this yr or last so prabably better than the ls tires and they handled great in the rain and snow . I am going to get me some new either bf goodrichs gforce sports or some pirelli tires in the spring though seeing Im going with 18s or 19s wheels.

Well my area is still getting slammed with wind and lake snow. So while I watch hummers and other vehicles drive into ditches I cruise around the roads like they aren't in bad shape. And for what its worth, there are a lot of large hills and curves around my area and I don't have much of a problem getting up them, even from a stop. I have only gotten my car stuck one time since I've owned it and that was last year in my driveway. It took 10" of that really wet heavy snow (the stuff was like wet cement) to stop my car. I wasn't stuck either, I just couldn't get up my driveway which has a mild incline to my garage. Get them tires on your car if you intend to drive it in the winter!
