2004 neon 41te/a604 no 2nd gear
park, reverse, and first gears work.
when it shifts from 1st to 2nd, there is no shift, then i think it goes into limp mode (stays in 2nd gear), i have to shut off the car and restart to get the car to move again in 1st gear, codes p0700
any ideas?
is there an inline service/ repair manual, that i can use for trouble shooting or tear down?
thanks

not for cheap
and I doubt anyone would loan you one, people are weird that way
your really just shooting in the dark without getting it read,
do you have AAA? have it towed somewhere

so will the tcm scanner have a special plug, or will it plug into the odb-ll scanner plug-in? where can i buy?
i have never needed a scanning tool, i have always just turned the key on and off 3 times, (i guess that is what i get for buying a car that is less than 20 years old)
any help with any of this, anything other than that i need to take it to someone else
my guesses are, bad 2-4 clutch pack, bad or plugged solenoid pack, bad accumulator, or bad wires

The 2003-2005 Neons have the TCM integrated into the PCM. It all reads from the OBD-II port.
Here's a basic, cheaper scanner for $30. http://www.amazon.com/OBDII-Engine-S.../dp/B000LEPT5G
I have the older model of this one (just looks different): http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...0664&ppt=C0103. Either way, $100 is a common price for a good scanner.

even the cars withn a seperate TCM are read thru the OBDII port (DLC)
I'm not suggesting you give it over to someone to fix u just need more descriptive trans codes
otherwise start replacing everything you think is wrong and see how much cash you have left
I dont see anywhere where those scanners advertise they will read TCM codes
the cheapo 3100 I have would only give me a P0700 code and no further

P0344 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Intermittent
P0731 Gear 1 Incorrect ratio
P0732 Gear 2 Incorrect ratio
P0733 Gear 3 Incorrect ratio
P0734 Gear 4 Incorrect ratio
P0845 Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch B Circuit
P0846 A/T 2-4 Pressure Switch Circuit Malfunction
P2096 Post Catalyst Fuel Trim System Too Lean Bank 1
P0344 means you have bad sensor wiring or a bad sensor.
Reading through the factory service manual, in each incorrect gear ratio code diagnostic solutions, if the codes P0845 and/or P0846 are present, it says to replace the transmission solenoid/pressure switch assembly:
Here's for P0732, for example:
P0731 Gear 1 Incorrect ratio
P0732 Gear 2 Incorrect ratio
P0733 Gear 3 Incorrect ratio
P0734 Gear 4 Incorrect ratio
P0845 Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor/Switch B Circuit

Quote:
With the DRBIIIt, read Transmission DTC’s.
Are the DTC’s P0845 and/or P0846 present also?
Yes- Replace the Transmission Solenoid/Pressure Switch Assembly per the Service Information. Perform 41TE (NGC) TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST - VER 1.

The most likely causes for P2096 are a bad O2 sensor or the O2 sensor wiring. With the DRBIIIt, read Transmission DTC’s.

disregard the ratio codes at the moment as they are set by something else
focus on the solenoid/press switch assy, and the 2-4 pressure switch
the cam code if its correct would cause the O2 code
heres the solenoid/switch assembly
