Default 2001 Dodge Neon Transmission Issue?

I have a 2001 Dodge Neon automative with 160,000 miles. Car runs great and has had all of it's scheduled maintenance done.

Just lately the car has started to studder and slip (no power to the ground, but only with studdering) after stopping at a light, then it will catch and go back to normal.

Transmission was serviced 8,000 miles ago and the fluid looks good. It's not black or brown, it is nice and red.

Anybody have any ideas what the issue may be before i take it to a mechanic?

I appreciate any help anyone may be able to offer.

Are there any codes stored in the computer?

I can't say anything about the studdering ... What I can talk about about is experience from the past. When I have lost power and then it comes back suddenly dealt with a stretched Timing belt ... Do you know if that was serviced yet?

I'm not sure about the codes. How do i go about finding an error code? Is that something i need a mechanic with a computer for?

Also - The timing belt was replaced about 15,000 miles ago. After driving the car last night the transmission is shifting great through all the gears etc... and it didn't lose power or studder at all. The problem seems to be intermittent.

If you turn the key from off to on quickly three times, ending in the on position, any codes will be displayed in the odometer area.

I don't see where the vehicle's transmission model is stated (3 or4 speed)?
