IDK if a Found On Road Dead POS was given to me, I'd take it right to the junkyard and drive a Yugo instead.

My Toyota had more American labor into building it than most Ford's. At least it was assembled in the USA. I suppose you'd own a Probe, Festiva, Aspire, Fiesta (78-80).

nope, v8 muscle. there's no replacement for displacement. my truck can go places your car can only dream of and could pull you like it's nothing.

That's because you have to make up for other short commings.

V-8 comment is about as typical as the small block chevy mentality which is a rapidly dying breed (thank God)

nope, there's nothing like the rumble of real, tire shredding power. how much torque does your yota put out just out of curiosity?

Well I said if I were to get a new car it would be a new sti they are much better than than the older stis and wrxs anyways. I have had not much trouble with my sxt unlike my 1st gen neons. One vehicle of mine that never had any problems whatsoever and I had it for 11yrs now is my limited edtion 00 volkswagon turbo beetle. Most reliable car I have ever owned.

I've replaced both Tie-rod ends because they were about to fall off. Both sway bar bushings because they were egged. Both rear struts because there was a lot of rust at the top of the strut rod which made a squeaking noise. Both lower control arm bushings because they slipped out of the control arms.

These all seem to be common problems with these things. I've also replaced both wheel bearings in the rear because one was whining and one was growling. The wheel bearing on the front right is starting to go. Ive bent at least 3 rims too but I blame the roadways I drive on. I have a check engine light on for evaporative emissions failure and a random misfire.

All this and more with only 110k miles on the car.

I was unaware this thread was going to cause so much controversy but there is no way you could beat on it daily and avoid all of those problems. I've worked on other Neons the same year as mine and they exhibit most of the problems I listed off.

Unless you just ignore all of those noises going on under your car.

I have replaced timing belt and water pump and other things go along with those both, 3 motor mounts, brake pads like 2 or 3 times, wiring and sensors and somestuff with the front been though a hood and front bumper due to husband had an accident with my sxt and 3 or 4 spark plug changes and 3 sets of wires. two alternators. My horn still does not work and my sxt is a 04 with now over 200,000 miles. I love my sxt way more than my 1st gen neons and my one acr srt4.

Most of that just seems like wear and tear; happens around 100,000 miles. A couple of others are environmental, which unless you move, will happen to any car there.

The thread is only turning out the way it is because of a certain someone. An SRT has the same parts. It's wear and tear. You've got to maintain any car you buy. I'm not gentle on my Neon but it's still moving right along. I've got a couple of minor things that I've got to look at if it ever stops snowing here, but I'll take a couple of minor things at 125,000 miles vs. one major thing.
