Help, P1388 and P1389
So here is my issue, I am driving along and boom the car completely shuts off. Did the key trick and received the above two codes P1388 and P1389. Replaced the coil pack on a chance and no change. I also have checked the pcm for corrosion or broken wires and everything looks fine. I get a hesitation while driving and it seems as though the car is "bogging" when accelerating however it has done this for a while. I have checked for broken wires and checked the grounds that I can see. This is my only means of transportation and need to get it going so I can get to work. Sometimes the car will start immediately other times it takes 20 minutes. It cranks over just fine but will not run when this happens. I have swapped a couple relays around in the pcm and no change, the hard part is that the car still seems to run fine until the ASD kicks out. Don't know where to go from here.
Well the sensor was tight, however I did replace it and took a 40 minute drive with no issues, tomorrow will be the true test as it usually gave the most trouble when it was warm and humid, which here in Wisconsin doesn't last all that long. Thanks for the assistance, I will update tomorrow night after driving to and from work.
Nope, didn't fix it. Guess the car doesn't like to drive to work. Now I am lost again on what to try........

spent plenty of time cleaning and checking grounds, following wires, not sure what to do. I can drive it for a day and no problems and the next it dies twice, any other suggestions out there?
You are going to have to get a wiring diagram and go through the ASD system. P1388 is "Auto shutdown relay control circuit" and P1389 is "No ASD relay output voltage at PCM." There is something wrong in the ASD system that is causing the ASD to lose power and cause the vehicle to shut off. It could potentially be the PCM itself if the wiring through the whole system is good.
OK, today is a new day and what do ya know, my car is sitting at a friends and what I can tell there is no spark for sure. Will be looking thru wiring diagrams and diagnostics to see what would cause this, no new code other than P1388 and P1389.
