New!
Hey everyone. I'm new to this forum. I have a 2001 Dodge Neon and I just found out that I have a broken engine mount. Can I fix that with some of my friends or is it something that I have to take my car to the garage for? Any pointers?
Should be able to do it yourself if you have the tools. If it's a torque strut mount (the ones on the passenger side), they're a piece of cake. The other ones I haven't done so I don't know. Pick up a Haynes manual at any car parts store and you'll be on your way =]
Follow the directions exactly when replacing the engine mount, especially the part about marking the old mount. It's probably a medium-difficulty job just because you have to remove a bunch of stuff to get to it. Can you do it? Yeah. Plan a day.
Engine mounts are fairly easy to do. You can go here http://www.modernperformance.com/eng...8_376_378.html and find many options.
You can go with the OEM mounts or aftermarket solid mounts. Solid mounts will add vibration though.
I just replaced my upper/passenger side mount on my SRT-4. (Same mount as the reg Neon) and it was a piece of cake. You just need the right tools and it won't even take that long.
I'm not too sure on the bottom/drivers side mount though, but if it's the passenger side mount, EASY AS PIE!
My aftermarket Dogbone mounts came with super simple directions but I didn't really need them. (The driver's side shouldn't be too hard, as the directions weren't that long. (I had a shop do the other mount at a later time, because I needed some more work, but I'm sure I could have done that one too.)
Oh and welcome and I'm sorry that my Gators had to take it to Penn St like that.

P.S. Midnight, it's all good. I know Penn St. pretty much sucks at every sport lol. Plus they're not really my favorite team
