so thats what is causing my leaks?

even if i get it spotless and their is just scratch marks?its not going to do anything to save it?

couldnt u just get a new plate?

for the epoxy do u apply that on the whole silver surface and then put the solenoid back on?

 

why would the car be able to drive in drive mode though?

 

You never specified it moved in drive , is this a reverse soenoid u replaced?

 

i can start it up but when i put the car in drive nothing happens.

Ok so the trans works on pressure to operate those solenoids , if you have a large leak from that solenoid as u say then you are losing the pressure needed to operate the solenoid to shift the trans into gear. You need to remove all of the old gasket for the new one to seal properly. If u put a scratch or gouge in the sealing surface while cleaning it then the gasket will not seal anymore causing a leak and loss of adequete pressure. Remove it and check it over very good , make sure its seating flush all the way around. If its gouged then applying epoxy or marine tex to the new gasket will fill in the gouge or scratch. its a simple trick. Make sure the trans is full as well. Ur on ur own now , use common sense and simple theory , u can only do so much over the net to help someone. Good luck.
