Default 02 Dodge Neon

My current problem is the car let me sit at a red light a few days ago. It sounded as if it would start, but after u cranked it a few times the battery sounded as it were dying. I had it towed to a friends house. He replaced the starter and the altenator, it doesnt kill the battery now but it wont start. He says its getting no fire or spark. What is the problem? My research says possibly the crank sensor???? Timing seems good. Any suggestions? Not alot of cash to work with so haven't had a mechanic hook it up to a computer yet.

Is he sure he didn't forget to hook up a ground or power wire somewhere? Blown fuse or relay?

It very well could be. I like to go through things that don't cost money first though, like checking for the above that could potentially be the culprit.

Also, non-transmission codes can be had from the odometer in the cluster. With the key starting in the off position, rapidly turn it to on, then off, on, off and finally ending in the on position. Any codes (most major ones anyways) will show up in the odometer.
