Default replaced ignition rod still no start?

I have a 2000 Neon with mtx. 2 days ago i drove it to work with no problems at all. The next day when i got off and turned on the ignition all interior lights and radio came on as usual but it would not even try to crank, when i removed the keys everything stayed on. after checking battery and fuses i tore into the column and found the metal rod between the lock cylinder and ignition switch was broken. i went to the junkyard and pulled two (one for backup). Today i installed it and it felt right and all lights work but, car will not turn over. I hear a click from the relay connected to the multiswitch. but nothing happens. Is there somthing I need to do that i missed ( like resetting the sentery system? any help would be appreciated

Did you adjust the switch the rod goes into?

I did turn the ignition switch to the run position as needed to match the lock cylinders position as needed to put the cylinder back in.Is that the adjustment you were talking about? Also I pulled my battery and had it load tested and it ended up having dead cells so i pulled the battery from my daughters car still nothing but, I used a jumper wire from the battery to the starter relay(relay tested good) and it started up. I looked under my dash and noticed a wire plug it has two wires one white and one white with pink strip it has power but, i can't find where it goes to. could i have pulled something when i removed the covers?

sorry it has been so long from last post. I just wanted to follow up what I have done since then. I had to get it going so I removed the starter relay and ran a push button start which works great. I did figure out the problem after going to the junkyard and noticing that there was a wire that ran from the ignition to the white plug under the colum (it has a black cover in line on it) I'am guessing I removed and lost it when I replaced the Ignition rod. I have not put the new wire in because I like the push button.
