governor restriction
I am not that familiar with the ATX, but that is probally about when you are getting out of you power curve. What RPM are you at? It also could be that you are in such steep gears and the wind resistance is so great that most of your power is being used to keep the car at speed. My best idea, keep modin you'll get there or put in a MTX, I don't even use 5th gear and I can hit the speed limiter fairly quickly.
i have an automatic 2002 sxt. and while in drive it hits like 105, however it wont let u go faster because it is in overdrive. Because overdrive isn't meant for acceleration, you can go faster. If you hit 103 or whatver you hitting, while in motion shift the shifter to 3 and then get back o nthe gas, and youll be able to gain a higher top end.

whenever i race someone (i have an automatic) I leave it in the 1st position and it shifts on its own but revs to 6,250 in EVERY gear except 4th. So thats helped me out alot in races. I really dont know why it shifts on it own I was in 1st and doing 80 on the highway and my friend was cracking up in the passenger seat. lol
That has to be one of the worst things to do with an automatic trans!!!!!!! The reason it is shifting by itself is that it is shifting centrifically, so that it does not blow the trans up. I would stop doing that.
I have a 2002 dodge noen, stock, 5 sp manual and can hit the govener on flat ground (120). Also, i have been told that in order to turn off the govenor, you have to get into your cars computer, its not just a wire or anything, its in the computer...sux, but just do all the mods, and you should be good
