Default governor restriction

Just wanted to know if anyone has taken the governor restriction out of thier neon's computer system? I cant break 103mph when the car is built to go 120mph. I also can not rev my engine past 4000rpm in park or nutral. The tach just bounces at 4000rpms. If i do take it out is there anyway to get it back(meaning i do it my self) when i go for emissions casue they will surley fine me for not having it.[&:]. The next question is once i start my mods will having a cai, new headers, new manafold etc beat out the gov. restriction or will my car still be restricted to a lower mph and just be quicker at lower speeds??

What kind of neon do you have that can't hit 120, which is the speed limiter, and I believe 6250 on a MTX rev limiter, I think the ATX is a little lower? I would think that you have some other issues. I would do a ture up on the car.

If you have an automatic I'm pretty sure it won't rev past 4 grand in park or neutral. As for hitting 120.....it should hit about 118 before the governor shuts you down. I've hit it before. [&:] You're probably having a hard time going by 103 because of the automatic being in top gear.

I am not that familiar with the ATX, but can you hit over 100 in 2nd??

Well i dont think the car needs a tune up..i just did the spark plugs last week(28kmiles). I have come to the conclusion that it may be the universal fart can on the car(came with the car).[:@] I think it is robbing my car oh hp at higher revs.

There is some module or way to trick it to eliminate the top speed restriction. I saw a topic on it over at ******* If you go over there and search you can probably find it. As for removing the rev limiter....that is a BAD idea in my opinion. There is nothing beneficial of doing that. The only thing I might wish to do is just raise the rev limiter, but not until I've done work to my engine to handle the extra revs.

*EDIT* please do not advertise other forums on DF

thanx for the info. is there any site online that you know of that explains how/do you know how you would go about raising the rev limiter?
