2002 neon clutch
hey ppl, i've never posted in this part of the dodgeforum before, i'm always in the 2nd gen truck section. But my sister has a 2002 neon with a 5speed. She is in need of a clutch, she has been babying it for a couple months now, but when she gets her tax return, she is hoping to fix it.
I have done all kinds of car work, so I know I can do it. I just wanted some advice.
time?
cost?
recommended parts, or other parts while I'm in that far?
do I have to remove tranny, or can I slide it back(or sideways)?
if I do have to remove it, do I take it out the bottom(need a lift)?
any specialty tools required?
anything else you guys can think of?

Here's a very recent thread that will answer some of your questions: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...do-i-need.html
Time: plan a day if you're proficient. A weekend if this is your first go at something like this.
Cost: depends on the parts you buy.
You'll have to at least partially drop the transmission. You won't be able to unbolt it and slide a hand through the small space to do the work.
Taking it out of the bottom is easiest IMO. Just jack the car up pretty high. I did it with a basic floor jack and some blocks of wood.
I don't recall needing special tools to take the trans out, but you'll want the clutch alignment tool. I think they come in clutch kits, if not, you'll want to go buy one.
