Default is a turbo worth it?

I have an auto 04 neon and am wondering if I should do any upgrades. If I put a turbo on and other mods like cold air intake and adj. cam gear, pistons etc... is it going to be worth it or am I going to spend way to much money in the end? Also if anyone could give me some websites with good!! cheaper parts that would be great.

here are some websites for parts:

MP
Howell

i wouldnt recomend putting a turbo on an auto. if you really want a turbo i would look into getting a tranny swap first or simply just trading in for a SRT-4.
i think its worth it to spend money on the car and its something fun to do when you have free time.

You could upgrade your auto's transmission and it'll have great performance. If u get a turbo u can't upgrade your PCM which means you will be getting shut off at 120 mph due to the speed limiter. With a turbo you will have to stick to the stock PCM which sucks. I wouldn't put a turbo in my Neon. I would just save up for an SRT-4 or u would be better off just taking the SRT-4 engine.

I was thinking of doing the same thing, doing to tranny swap on my 05 neon, turbo and all.
A friend says not to bother, thats a lot of hassle and I should just trade my car in for an srt-4.
Is that really a wise choice? Usually when you trade in your new car you just lose your *** out on it,
especially since I don't have any equity or anything, just a few payments so far.

Thanks.

it all depends... an srt-4 you can finance but tranny and engine swap you will most likely have to pay for straight up. if you have the money for the swap it doesnt make any sense (well to me at least) to trade it in because you are right you will loose a bunch of money.

obtw... if you do want to get the srt-4 you will probably get more money by selling your current car yourself.

You also don't get any money when you put (aftermarket parts) a turbo into a car while it doesn't increase the value of the car. I would just work with what you have but not put a turbo in the car.

remember that an auto will always shift faster than a stick, and also you can do some minor mods to your auto trans to make it more efficent. second just because there are no pcm for aftermarket turbos doesnt mean they wont come out. and last why is your non turbo neon so when u should have just bought the srt4 to begin with. why not be differnet and trick out the non str4, working on cars and stuff is about being unique and not the same car your friend has your the person next to you in there stock neon.

Good luck getting a reprogrammed PCM to go with the turbo to get good top speed.
