You could probably look for motorcycle tachs. I'm sure they'd support two for those V-Twin bikes.

Correction, won't work with the 2nd gen neon

Cheapest isn't always the best option though. I would recommend an autometer tach.

I stand by my original statement. It lists compatibility with the first gen Neon, because it has a wire coming off of the PCM that has the correct tach signal. The adapter is still incompatible.

What performance difference would there be if I were to get a cheap tachometer with a 2 cylinder rating? What autometer tach do you recommend?

Reliability is the only performance difference. Take the stock srt 4 boost gauge for example, it is badly inaccurate.

I didn't realize it made such a difference. What gauge would you recommend, then?

Autometer and sunpro make good tachs.

Am I missing something? I believe that unless you've made SERIOUS modifications to your Neon, the only engine option you have is a FOUR cylinder. So if you're looking for a two cylinder tach, it probably won't work or will give you inaccurate results. Also, I do have a related question. Is it known, for a fact, that a Neon without the tachometer cluster will still give a tach readout? Mine has a mtx without the tach and if I can get a tachometer for it, that would be awesome.

Hopefully this keeps it simple: the coil is split into two sides (so the signal is halved), so a 2 cylinder tach will pick up the signal from one of the two sides, eliminating the need for a tach adapter to adapt the signal to a "normal" one.

If you mean by swapping clusters, then yes. If you mean by adding a tach, then still yes.
