I'd visually check everywhere for a vacuum leak. If not that, check for codes just to be sure. It could be a dirty IAC or throttle body too.

Yeah, huge vacuum leak with that thing. I forgot to reconnect that tube to my air filter box one time...the car ran at full throttle.

Like an open breather element? The smoke is what normally goes into the makeup filter, and then that air is sucked back into the engine to be reburned.

Default car started overheating

tonight it started overheating, didn't have coolant so added water, made it to gas station down the road and it overheated again, and lost all water in resevoir & remaining coolant in radiator. Added more water and noticed a wire not plugged in all the way to thermostat, fixed that and didn't overheat on the way home, all was good. took the car out again later on and now its overheating again, could this be thermostat, suggestions much appreciated

Perhaps the IAC valve is to blame?

EDIT: Ignore this. Didn't see the second page when I posted.

As to the overheating issue, I would suspect the heater core, but that's taking it to an extreme.

PS: Not to mini-moderate but if you have an issue, it's much easier to be addressed if you were to make a separate thread.
