broken timing belt
My timing belt broke and i replaced it but car wont start. I was thinking i have some bent valves. I tried using an old rusty compression tester but it wont give me a reading in any cylinder. Is there any other way to know if i have bent valves?? Btw am trying to start the car with PS and alt disconected atm is this causing to not start?

I went to autozone and rented a compresion tester and am still getting 0 compression on all 4 cylinders maybe its right or i might be doing this wrong last time i tried to start the car turned and i could see the belt moving without an issue but this last time it made a sound something it had not done before. And right after that i removed a spark plug to try the new tester i could see smoke coming out of the spark plug hole. Am running out of options and i really want to make sure its the valves before removing the head

The only thing the timing belt would do when it broken is: the pistons hit the valves. So you better believe you have bent/broken valves.
Then you can check to see if the timing belt when broken, it fled off, and did hit something outside of the engine like electronic wires, ...

Yeah, if the belt actually snapped, then your valves are most likely bent. Replacement valves and retainers will probably $75-$150 depending on which brand you go with. You'll also need to rent a couple tools to get the job done. The pistons are probably fine...maybe some scuffing on the domes, but otherwise, I can't imagine them being damaged in any significant way.
