Took the sensor out and what do I see? A crack through the whole sensor and oil in the plug. 2 weeks old. So I bought another one. Now P0340 is gone and P0344 occured. Neon doesn't run anymore. Searched the internet for solutions. Nothing. Now I'm sick of it. Gonna get it towed tomorrow to my friendly Dodge Dealer. Have the extended Warrenty which covers the motor and it's parts. Didn't brought it there before, because I have 100 bucks deductable. The sensor was 50 bucks. Anyways. Hope the dealer will fix it.

Did you buy an OEM sensor and clean out the oil from the connector when you put the new one in?

I bought a sensor from Napa (don't know what you mean with OEM). So it seams that the motor oil went through the crack of the sencond sensor and from there into the plug.
I took brake cleaner, sprayed it and blew it out with the compressor. Checked the wires too. P0340 was gone, the car started an ran while idling. No Error codes. But as soon the rev's go over 2000rpm, ...bing,...P0344.
Then I was putting the first sensor on. The one which was on the motor originally and brought up the P0340 Code, because the motor actually ran with it, but the error appeared a few times a week. Nothing. Same code then with the new one. P0344.

Maybe oil in the plug shorted something.

P0344 would be a dirty connection or broken/grounded wires. These cars tend to like OEM sensor vs. aftermarket, so that *could* be the problem, but no guarantee.

I'm having similar issues as well. Car had trouble starting up a few times, sputtered out while accelerating on the road, and check engine light appeared. I had it tested and got the P0340 camshaft sensor malfunction code. Bought a new one (non-OEM) and changed it out and ran normal for a few days, ce light gone. Then it wouldn't start at all the other morning. Checked wiring and harnesses, fuses/relays, spark is fine, etc. Did the key trick and got 3 codes with the new sensor on: 0129-fuel/air pressure low, 0340-camshaft sensor, 0335-crankshaft sensor. So i put the old (OEM) back on and now no codes appear and it's starting up fine. Check engine light is on with the key on as well as oil light, but doesn't appear while running. Stumped! Any ideas?

tldr: changed cam sensor after problems and worked temporarily-put old back on and works now but for how long?

YES. Buy from the dealer. Also, ask for a CAM sensor pig tail connector, and change it as well.
