Default air box question

Is there a way to cut / modify my hair box to turn it into a heat shield for my filter / to hold the throttle body in place

I am having issues with my two brackets not holding my throttle body in place

I figured I could use an extra air box to fix this issue

Use the duck tape for Mohawk hair box style
Easy fix, no need to modify.

I guess I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish/what you are having problems with.

1) what Moparkyle Said
2) you ask about using an "extra" airbox. have you priced the airboxes? last i looked they were $150-ish. course those were parts store prices, not salvage yard...
been casually looking for an unmolested airbox for a couple years, on the off chance i would decide to remove the CAI on my car.
I have the rest of the stock intake parts(including the factory filter) boxed up, but when the previous owner (my older Brother) installed the CAI, he cut holes in the ends of the box, to route the piping through, so the car looks stock when you open the hood.
why? I have no idea.
Maybe it made it easier to pass the TX annual inspection. halfway hide the CAI so it's not an instant fail? (just a guess)

My intake came with one bracket which doesnt hold the throttle body from moving.

I made another bracket which helps but it still moves a bit

I may have my hands on a whole salvaged neon.
I figured I could modify the airbox (without lid) to let more air in.

Basically cut the bottom and most of the front off.

I figured the airbox would act as a "heat shield" and it would hold the whole setup in place.

If you still dont understand let me know and ill try to explain better or ill take a pic of how it is now so u get what i mean.

thanks guys

I just cut the bottom half of my air box in half so it still could mount and i put a spectre cold air intake on it.... Take the top off the box. take the bottom peice out and cut in in half, stright down youll still have your TB mounts and the other two- one by battery and one to RAD. support....
