Default Battery/Charging Issues

Ok, so if you followed my last thread, got in an accident a while ago and the last few days have been pretty nice.

So now my fiancee was at work and tried to start her car but to no avail. I went there and took a look.

When you put the key in, no lihts are going on, no indication of electricity. But after inserting the key a few times the stereo in fact does go on. When you try to start it when no electricity indication, no clicking or anything from the starter (expected). When I got the stereo to get going I tried to start but just clicking. I took my car and boosted hers. The first time it sounded like it was gonna get going but died. Second time I just gave it a bit of gas and it's good now.

Anyways, I said just drive straight home and leave it. About half way home the battery lgith came on. When she got home (20 mins) she tried to start but nothing.

A bit of history aside from the accident. A few months ago we were having issues starting so I replaced the starter but still nothing. Replaced one of the connectors on the battery (positive) and all was well! I feel as though its a bad connection again but maybe someone has any other ideas based off the accident (starter and alternator were not touched).

Cheers!

You should take the battery to an auto part store. They will test it for free.
If you live in a cold climate region, a battery is good for about 6 years.
If your battery is good, check for connections, and find out if the alternator is charging it. You will not have enough power to start your car if the dome light was left on for about 2 hours.
I can only tell you whats I know. I'm not good with electrical and fuses on cars.

If you had to jump started your fiancee car, high changes you have a bad battery, or charging problem.
You wouldn't be able to drive straight home if the connections were bad.

If it's the key (ignition on/off) then I can't help you with that.
Howstuffworks has an article about this but I didn't read it.

Turned out to just be bad connections again. Took the terminals off, cleaned them up a bit (they weren't that bad) then threw some dielectric jelly on them and tightened them good and bam it worked again thankfully. Though I want to buy some new battery cables, it's SO hard to find them that aren't pre done. I just want the cable, I can do the ends myself lol. Oh well I'm sure a welding place has it.

You could always just buy the pre-made battery cables and cut the ring terminal end off and then just solder a new one on. The cables are like $5 and a pack of ring terminals are what, $0.50? Probably cheaper than buying so many feet each of power and ground cable, plus battery terminals and ring terminals.

ETA: What I did was buy a short negative battery cable. 3' I think? Perfect length and size to go from the battery to the relay box. I bought a new battery terminal for the positive side, cut the end of the cable off that comes from the starter, put a ring terminal on and then sealed it with lined/insulated heat shrink tubing and then simply bolted it to the new terminal. Already had the shrink tubing (though it's not that expensive). I still spent around $10 to do it.

I ended up getting cables and doing it myself. Battery is fine, haven't had an issue with starting now. Though having other issues which I'll make a new thread for.. blarg
