K&N Oil Filter - Overpriced for what they are, IMO. Purolators are one of the best and I can get them for ~$4. If I want synthetic media, I can get a Purolator PureOne filter for ~$7. I use the regular Purolators on all of my family's and my cars, with the exception of my Mustang that uses a PureOne filter as I only do a yearly oil change on it.

K&N Air Filter - You use a K&N air filter because they flow better. A paper air filter filters better than oiled gauze filters. That being said, I got a Spectre hpR reusable air filter on clearance for less than a paper filter. That is what is currently in the car (and needs to come out when I begin parting it out tomorrow). Their filtration rates are actually pretty decent and the ONLY reason I have one is the price I got it for.

Plugs - Up until I got the free set of Bosch Iridiums for testing/opinion, I used the factory Champion plugs properly gapped. Under $10 for all four plugs. They did what they were supposed to do. Either those or the basic NGK copper plugs.

Wires - Just about any decent set will do. I've used a set from both Kragen/O'Reilly and NAPA and they both worked fine.

not to split hairs darth, but the Pure One's Don;t have Sythetic Media, that's just the newer Purolator Synthetic Filters. which go for about $10 in my neck of the woods.

i agree 100% with everything else though.

parting it out eh?... did your airbox survive intact?
only need 3 parts myself
unmolested airbox
the uh-black plastic cover-grate-thingy for the cabin air intake(behind/under the pass wiper arm - mine is cracked right across the screw hole)
Front pass seat belt buckle(mine just started rattling with any little vibration the other day.)

I think they've changed the P1 filters then? They were Purolator's "top dog." I didn't know they had come out with an actual Purolator Synthetic filter. The P1's used to be the ones for extended oil changes and now they say they should be changed every 3 months and that they have a "micronic media."

The V-Powers will work fine too, and yes, that's the part number for them. As for the MSD coil pack and wires: my opinion is pass on them. Optimally, the PCV valve should be changed everytime the spark plugs are. Yes, I changed that too.

K&N filters are garbage if you don't clean them (which most (all) people don't) or if you have a MAF system..

wrong and wrong. the K&N's actually filter BETTER the longer you go between cleanings. up to a point of course...(true for Most air filters, even paper filters actually)

the problems most people make is cleaning them TOO often.
you should go min 50k mi. and even then, follow the example pictures @ the K&N website. http://www.knfilters.com/cleaning-pics.htm

and the MAF problems come from people OVER oiling their filters.
it's like Cologne. more does not equal better.

"Over-oiling When servicing a K&N filter, take care not to over-oil the element. Besides impeding air flow, excess oil can migrate into the intake system where it can coat electronic sensors, which some OEM’s claim may hinder the sensors’ operation and result in a repair that will not be covered under warranty. Although K&N disagrees with such claims, as explained in more detail on this web site, in order to avoid a dispute with an OEM over the denial of a warranty claim, we suggest that you be careful not to over-oil your K&N air filter. Never saturate the filter. If oil drips from the filter, wash it and start over. Use only K&N oil. For example, an E-1500 filter has 92.4-inches of surface area requiring 1.707 fluid ounces of oil.

you may also want to change your coolant, by flushing it and replacing it depending on how many miles it had / if its been ever changed

darth are you parting some things online?

I'm parting add-ons out for myself, ATM. I still don't know if it is going to be totaled or not so I'm not sure about anything right now. Let's keep on-topic though
