Cool did a compression test today..

First of all I went to autozone and rented a compression tester for $40. Went home and did a dry test. the results were really low. So I did a CT on the Ford Focus, got the same reading...so I returned it to Autozone and told them the equipment was faulty. Then I went to Orielly's and rented thier CT for $40. and I got accurate readings with thier's.

Cylinder no 1 - 190
Cylinder no 2 - 175
Cylinder no 3 - 182
Cylinder no 4 - 180

That was a dry test. wasn't gonna do a wet test. We all know how neons are...

You only need to do a wet test if there is a discrepancy in the dry test results. 7.89% variation while the manual says anything up to 25% is acceptable. Your engine isn't worn out yet.

How many times did you crank the engine when you tested it?

To find the percent of variance between two numbers, the equation is:
((A-B)/A)*100

A - High number
B - Low number

So: ((190-175)/190)*100= 7.894
