It really doesn't matter how many valves it has. Unless you get a little higher. All 2nd gens are SOHC, besides the SRT-4.

That's right, my Project Toyota Supra is a DOHC Inline-6 and it has 24 valves per cylinder. Remember though, VW created VR6 and W Configuration motors. And I think most of their engines are now packed with 5 valves per cylinder, but all that still doesn't say how many camshafts it has. For example, a Pushrod actuated SB Chevy has 2 valves per cylinder, for 16 total, but it only has one cam (albeit it is not overhead, but you get the idea). Imagine changing the cams on a 4 valve DOHC V-8. That's 32 valves and you got FOUR Cams to work with. Complicated!

I have an 05 sx2.0 ( neon ) with SOHC and i has 16valves (4-cyl) . you can have an Inline 4 , SOHC, with either 8 valves, or 16 valves, it just redouces the size of the valves to have 16 on one cam.
