Default 01 neon airbag replacement

01 neon. Deployed airbages due to hard curb strike. replaced entire column, pass airbag and sensor under console. after I reconnected battery car started 3 times and stalled each time. now it wont crank at all. if i turn key twice engine lite flashes 10 times and a red dot appears in the top right of dash. do i need to replace crash sensor?

When I pulled column I disconnected everything from original and reconnected all to the new column. I even removed/replaced ingnition switch from old column.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

If your car has a skim module does it still have the original one? It's next to the ignition tumbler. The key that went with that module also needs to match.

The reason it stopped cranking is because it went into lockout mode.[COLOR=blue] I'm not sure about the crash sensor, I think the crash sensor is built into the airbag module, maybe you need to replace the airbag module, It's under the center console.

This on post #10 tells how to reset the lockout, but you need to correct the first problem first before resetting.

i replaced the airbag module. is the skim module the one that the cable with the yellow end clips into right behind/underneath the ignition switch?

Can i swap that out from the old column. i want to keep the keying of the doors and ignition the same if possible, the column came from the junk yard.

I think so, I haven't changed one before. I just know that if your key has a grey plastic top than you have a skim module on your car.

And you need the old original skim module on the new column, or your car won't stay running.

Post #10 from the link:
The DRB won't override the lockout, but you can get it out of lockout yourself. With the key in the ignition and turned to "On", leave the drivers door open for one hour. Be sure to hook up a charger to the battery so the voltage doesn't drop below 12V. After an hour you will have reset the lockout. We had to do this in the shop if the SKIM they programmed was wrong.

You will need the DRB to program the key though. Eh, it's still good to know.

So i pull the bad module, open the door for the hour to reset then reinstall the good module and all should be good?

You should leave the skim module installed while resetting. It might work with it removed, but, I'm not sure.

After you leave the key on with the drivers door open for a little over 1 hour then install the original skim module.

Using a battery charger will help assure the reset works.
