Default back up

hi again to all i have a 2nd gen dodge neon i recently found out my back up lights are not lighting up in reverse. i tested the sockets with the car in reverse and got nothing out of both sockets. i had also found my rear defroster dosent work.

Could be a bad neutral safety switch. You might check power at that switch first and see if you are getting anything. As for the rear defroster, have you checked the fuse?

ETA: Looking at the wiring diagrams, you may first check fuse 7. It is a 15A fuse that should be labeled as the rear defroster fuse. The thing is, that fuse also controls (in part) the neutral safety switch and back up lamp switch (which is part of the neutral safety switch).

You have a 00-01 Neon (non-electronic transmission), IIRC, yeah? It's a three-prong connector.
