Would some tell me what might be causing the arcing noise I am hearing...it's coming from the spark plugs i think...if I start my car and pull the insulators off of my spark plugs it is a little louder. I didn't know if maybe it is a fuel injector or possibly the metal tubes over my spark plugs aren't down all the way...it's a 2000 dodge neon. Thanks

 

Use a flash light and pull the plug wires up and out. See if you are leaking oil in the spark plug tubes. If you are. Replace the valve cover gasket and all 4 tube seals.

 

Mine did the same thing I just pushed the boot tubes down into the head more. And if its and arcing noise it may be something to do with the coil pack or the ignition coil. Start it at night and if it looks like a laser show then one of the two need replaced.

 

easy way to check for spark leaks, mix a spray bottle of warm water an table salt... shake good so it dissolves and wont clog when you spray it, then apply it on the coil pack an wires, start the engine in the dark, any spark leaks will show up... old trick working on motocross bikes during the hot days of summer 115 degrees


just wash it off good with soap an water when your done
