Some of your thoughts
Today is my first day on here. I found the site to do some mods to my car to clean up the look of the car. How ever this seems like a good place to ask if anybody has a problem with the car engine bucking a little bit. When I turn the heat or a/c on the engine feels like it is gonna buck and stall out. Keep in mind the car has 59,961 miles on it. I replaced the engine at 52,000. This is all under warranty but Its gonna cost me 60 to 100 bucks for them to look at it to determine if its a warranty issue. Now the trans is shifting higher then it should. It feels like it kick down to hard when it goes into first such as slowing down for a stop sign. I hear alot of neons with autos have problems. When the dodge stealership did the engine replacement they didn't even change the spark plugs. It took them 3 weeks to do the work. We had to pay for a rental. Dodge warranty is only good for 5 days. (read what good is a warranty when the rental car cost more then the engine) When I picked up the car I opened the door and it felt like the door was gonna shake it self off. You could look at the mirror and see it shaking. Its not a Hemi its a 4cyl I don't want to see the mirrors shake in this car. The service writer of 5 years says to me oh thats normal they all do that. Upon further inspection I find they put some of the oil pan bolts on with an impact gun. I love the look of hairline fractures on my oil pan. Now the stealership wants me to pay 60 to 100 bucks to see whats all messed up with the car. Anybody have some suggestions please help.
Well for starters, I'd drop the transmission pan on your car. If you are car knowledgable, I would look in the pan to see if you have any decent sized metal fragments. This will let you do two things. One, you can do a transmission flush on your car at this time. Two, and this is the most important, you can see if there is any potential issues with your transmission. If you see ALOT of metal flakes/pieces...or even 1-5 pieces of decent sized material, chances are you need a rebuild/new transmission.
That said, as to your problem with the AC/Heat, sounds like a vacuum issue. Could be a hole in the line or a malfunctioning throttle body/intake....
I'm guessing a little bit on the throttle body, but I'm just trying to give you some ideas of things to check. I would definitely have the whole air intake/vacuum system checked for leaks or malfunctioning parts.
If you think you may have a transmission problem, pay the professionals to tear it apart and inspect it. Worst case is they get all dirty and tell you it needs to be repaired. It would prevent you from doing all that work only to have to have it towed somewhere to be worked on. I can understand the desire to repair it personally, I've swapped out 3 transmissions on my own for FWD cars. I bought used/rebuilt ones and did it myself. The only problem is, you never can be sure of how good the transmission is. Most AAMCO places offer a lifetime warranty on the transmission, which to me, is well worth the price. Also, while it is there, you can always see if they can beef up the interior components with better aftermarket parts. I had my Z26 Beretta tranny die twice due to a manufacturers problem with it. Notorious for dying around 75-80k. Had them beef it up and put in a more "racing style" components. Basically just amounted to heavier duty hardware. It worked out well as it actually improved the car's driving ability.
Good luck on figuring it out, and my advice would be to find/make a friend in a local shop [8D] Also, a 6pack of their favorite beer could always help

I just did a tranny service after I had the engine replaced. It was nasty in there. The vacuum leak sounds more likely to me bacause the stealership that did the work sucks.
If you just did a tranny servicing, and it was that bad, as the word NASTY never sounds good, I'd seriously be considering a rebuild or having it inspected for repair.
Vacuum leak could be a blown hose, or a bad seal as well.

That is my plan. I just wanted to see mostly if someone had some advice on the bucking and wantinng to stall. There was more metal particals then I like to see on a tranny service.
