Default Over $200 for a spare key!!!!!!!

Needed a spare key so went to stealer. $95 for the key and they want $120 to program. Are you kidding me!

My BMW'S are cheaper to buy parts for and maintain.

You can get spare keys cheaper on ebay. Dealer still has to program it though. Programming charge is really an hour of labor. Some locksmiths will program keys as well.

My current flip car is an 05 Neon I bought with no keys. I bought 2 keys and 2 remotes on ebay for $25. Got a guy from pop a lock to come to the house. He cut and programmed both keys and both remotes for $120.

That's the price we pay for chipped keys.

Look for an Ace Hardware in your area. A couple near me, including the attached to the store where I work, sell and program chip keys. I think the Mopar keys are around $89 and the programming is part of the sale price.

I bought extra keys on eBay, had them cut at the local hardware store for something like $1.25 each, and then had them programmed at a local shop. If I'm going to pay the programming fee/time, may as well get a few keys made and have the PCM/TCM updated at the same time since most shops charge by the hour.

Default New key

Home Depot now sells programmable keys. For $70 they will cut and program it to work with your car. In the past I purchased blanks on Ebay, took them to Home Depot who cut them for free, then programmed them myself. You must have 2 programmed keys to do this though. If not, the first method works, is not too expensive, and takes much less time.

Default Spare key

No, that was for my ford. I assumed the cost would be the same. What would you think to pay for a chipped key that you have programmed?
