Brake Noise?
Hello! I have a 2000 neon with 71,000. I am getting a thumping noise from the front passenger side only while braking. Both of my front calipers are less than 6mos old, both of my front rotors are about 2 weeks old and front pads are about 1 month old. I have tried swapping the 2 front tires but that didnt seem to help. Anyone have any ideas?
Bottom line is that if the noise it only during braking, it is the braking system. All there is is the caliper, pads, and rotor. The only thing that I can think of is that you may need to re-bleed the brakes, you could have air in the system.
I just recently hit 102,000 miles on my 2000 Neon (it was a rental car before it was mine) and my back breaks only started making a really loud noise about 5 months ago. We've checked the brakes and everything, everything is fine. The guy that just rotated my tires just sprayed them and they haven't really made a loud noise since then. Mine would only make the noise maybe like in the mornings when I would leave for work and was stopping at the end of my road, after I got going, it wouldnt do it until after the car had been sitting for a while.
Take that rotor into a NAPA store and have them check it to see if they can turn it out.
