Default Power steering Trouble??

Hi all just got a 2005 neon 162xx miles manual sxt i think.

Works nice for 500 bucks 8)))))))))

Anyways got the car 2 days ago. Wanted to get a feel for the car and its noises and subtleties. so at idle i or at stop i rolled the windows down and listened for stuff. I would hear a wine noise at idle or stop in neutral dint think much of it. I was driving on the freeway yesterday night and the steering got super hard, when I parked it i saw the power steering reservoir had overflown. Thankfully I took pics seen below. Also im I missing a belt ? I coulda have sworn this thing needed a belt to drive the power steering pump? Any advise on what it could be before i start ripping stuff out would be appreciated. I read some where i might need to drain it and clean the reservoir and mesh filter inside and see if that does the trick???

Thank you all in advance

Yes, you are missing the belt. The pump can't work without a belt, so if you install a belt, chances are it will be fine.

Thank you for the reply bud. Real quick i drove this bad boy for maybe 13 miles probably give or take to park it at my home. Do you think i did irreparable damage to the rack and pinion or something like that ?

Default Update

If anyone is interested. I added a belt (correct one i hope auto zone lady seemed off) but it keeps snapping off when i turn on the car. Either the tension pully is weird or one if the other pullys is loose?
