Default just a little question about acceleration

sup guys, it's me again. I was just wonderin if you guys have the same problem i do. When i'm racing somebody or just plain having fun and i jump on the gas, the car seems to pause for about 1.5 to 2 seconds and then takes off. After that it accelerates very slowly until my chip and intake kick in and then it's fast as hell so to speak. Just wondering if this could maybe be an injector problem or is this just 4 cylinders for ya.

it's a manual, i think the neon's just have vey little torque. Anybody have any idea how to get some, i've got exhaust, intake, and a jet chip.

Mine is an automatic. When you hammer it and it goes into low, it comes unglued. Try down shifting to get more R.Pm's

If you think neons have very little torque try driving a Civic...compared to civics we have lots of torque. Oh and yes i have noticed this slight pause in acceleration, but ive only noticed it one or two times.

I think it might be you "chip" as there is no good chip for the neon. Also never, I repeat, never shift an ATX manually while racing. The only time you should ever shift an ATX is when you are putting it in or out of gear.

if you haven't already, try a bottle of that in-tank fuel injector cleaner. Most auto stores and probably a few gas stations will carry the stuff. I use the stuff by STP, it works great and makes a difference. It makes the car feel a bit spunkier and gives me better mileage. I try to do this around once a month to keep things running good.

I've got a 2005 sxt and the shifting tends to get in the way of acceleration. First gear is really slow and tends to cause overreving until you reach approx 15-20 mph then shifts to 2nd. Another problem: Upon slowing down and coming to a stop I first thought my brakes were bad but slowly realized that it was shifting from 2nd to 1st causing a slight jerking motion. Also, one thing I noticed is there is a delay between gears, especially 1st and 2nd. For example, I can pull out of a parking situation, approach a yeilded intersection, take my foot off of the excellerator, realize there are no cars coming then hit the accelerator again. The result is that I almost ALWAYS catch it mid way between 2nd and 1st. There's a hesitation then it catches and causes the engine to jerk quite a bit to the point of gear damage. I'm not talking about jamming the pedal to the floor either. I'm talking about going approximately 10 mph, then when I realize there are no cars coming I lightly give it some gas to speed back up to 20 mph (city).

Kinda sucks but oh well. Better to live with it then take it to moron technicians who are there for the company and not the owner.

I don't know whats wrong with your neons. Mine has hardly ever done the "hesitation" thing. Maybe a few times since I've owned it. I killed my torque curve when I took my airbox out and just threw a filter on my TB. It added a nice kick in the pants up top but it hurt my low power pretty good. Now that I put a CAI on it in the fall my torque is back to what it felt like stock. Mine has torque...well it depends on how you get on it. If you get it on it from the get go it pulls hard down low. Now if you just are rolling at around 10-20mph and decide you want to take off out of 2nd gear I have to wait for my rpms to climb into the powerband. Once I hit 4,000 rpms its on like donkey kong, it'll pull all the way til it redlines.
