Default rear brakes

the rear brakes on my neon are making a squeaking sound. At first i thought that i needed new brakes. but when i checked the pads they were good. so then i cleaned the brakes and sanded the pads but the sound was still there. any ideas guys

Well, I have asked the same question to the guys at the Dodge dealership (who do my work) and they have said that neons are known to have a buildup after a humid or rainy day. So if it is very noticable after it rains or durring a misty morning, that's probably the case. I stop the noise by slowly applying the e-brake while going no faster than 5 mph. That usually takes off the buildup and causes the noise to stop.. But it still is very embarassing to have the neighbors hear.. Well, hope this was useful!

whenever I take my foot off the gas pedal I get a sound that sounds almost like a siren in the distance. It's a bit scary at times, I'm used to it, but I still wonder when it's going to mess me up one day and it WILL be sirens.

its not worth it to switch to disk brakes because the back only does about 20% of the stopping and it adds weight. you can just change the pads and you should b fine
