i found finally some stuff for us 4-speed auto's..but need advice
... im not sure this site feels to kindly about posting other sites...... so ill just ask. i came across some rebuild kits for the 4 speed A604/TE41 tranny i have on my sxt....
>>> well. i found a --- Master Transmission Rebuild Kit includes gasket and seal kit, all metal clad seals, all clutches and all steel plates ..for about $170 or so
>>> And i found this as well - SC-41TE is a full complement of parts in one box to cure common root-cause problems. Sonnax Sure Cure kits will simplify decisions for transmission rebuilders by providing the best Sonnax fixes in one box with detailed, step-by-step instructions. Helps cure: Repeat planetary failure, Pump seal leakage, High line pressure, Converter shudder, 1-2 shudder and 2nd gear starts- limp mode
what's this exactly? is it just another kit i ca get with the rebuild kit????
i found 2 types of valve bodies at another site..
>>> one type was a standard valve body....
ALL of our valve bodies include:
- Complete tear down
- Inspection: valves, bores, springs, end caps, refiners and guides
- Remanufactured by hand by a PRT certified technician
- Tested on Digital Solex Solenoid tester
*Overall integrity
*Resistance
*Amperage
*Flow when energized
*Flow de-energized
*Hydraulic leak down
*Tested at 140* to simulate real operational environment
>>>>>and the other was a (towing valve body????) i nevr heard fo those.. i figures maybe it was just a stronger valve body that good retain more pressure or something like that..lol
TOWING PACKAGE - includes ALL STANDARD FEATURES
PLUS:
- Increased lube in park
- Reduces converter drain back
- ensures longer transmission life
- custom PRT shifting kit
- Increased holding power by 45%
ALL valve bodies are thoroughly tested on our state of the art VBT4000 which utilizes precise computer controls to simulate every shift point that would occur in the vehicle to verify FULL function

- 12 Month/12,000 Mile warranty when installed in rebuilt unit.
- Installation in a used transmission voids implied warranty.
- Cores are required on all valve body units
SO MY MAIN QUESTION... WHAT DO I DO? I HAVE THE LINKS IF YOU GUYS WANT. TO CHECK EM OUT YOURSELF... PM ME AND ILL EMAIL BACK..

I think the 1st one is just a stock rebuild kit. The towing package sounds like a good idea.

when they say "with core" it means you have to send them your old transmission in order to get the price that they have listed. They'll initially charge you their "without core" price until they get your old transmission. When they get your old transmission, they refund some of your money.

I would think that they would charge you a core charge, mail you the valve body and then when you return the old one credit you the difference. I would talk to a few local transmission shops though. If you are gonna have the work done anyways, you might as well just walk into a trans shop and say I wanna beef up my tranny a little and ask if they have a towing package.

Thats a dumb way of doing it. They should just send you the valve body and you can have it installed yourself. It only takes an hour or two to install with household tools.

Since your planning on spending some $$$ on your auto tranny, have you considered a MTX swap?
I got an auto too, and the swap is floating around my mind. I don't see why we don't just do it, we'll get alot of lost HP back.
At the moment, I'm not too sure. I'm either going to swap to an MTX, or set up an Auto Turbo application.
I mean, the former WOULD allow the car I'm paying monthly for 3 more years last longer.
Best of luck.
