Carbon Fiber Hood - does it make a difference
I just purchased a 2005 Dodge Neon SXT, I've been looking at different mods for the car and came across Carbon Fiber Hoods. I realize that it weighs much less than the factory hood, but are they really worth the cost? Has anybody installed it on their vehicle? Did you notice a difference in the performance, MPG?

It's what, 30 pounds difference on a 3000 pound car? Come on... When you've stripped your interior, pulled out the beams in the doors, ditched the a/c, power steering, power windows, heater core, back seat, passenger seat, and need that extra 15 pounds (compared to a stock hood with the webbing removed) to drop you under 2200 with driver, then it might be worth the expense to get that extra 0.03 seconds... Otherwise, it's just for looks/bragging rights.
The rule of thumb is 100 lbs = 10 HP = 0.1 in the quarter mile. Just an estimate, but you get the idea...
Best of luck!
