Default How big of a shot?

Ok well I am pretty new at this so please take my novice into consideration, I would like to know about what is the biggest nitrous shot I can put on my 2003 SE without hurting the motor....it is basically stock, the only real upgrades are a custom K&N Cold Air Intake and OBX racing plugs and wires. Also if anyone one suggests a certain brand/kit that would be great.

Current mods:
- Custom K&N Cold Air Intake
- OBX Racing Plugs and Wires
- OBX Headers
- OBX Downpipe
- OBX Performance Muffler
- Underglow (Blue)
- Interior Lights to match
- Altezza Carbon Fiber Tail Lights
- JL 1000W Amp W/ JL 13w7 Sub
- And stock rims and tires lol....

I would not go over a 55 shot on stock bottom end, and i would sugges using the ZEX Wet Kit...the kit is very simple to install, and will run around $500 for a basic setup with a 10lb bottle.

get a wet kit either NX or Zex. and read alot about how too use it. if you hit and you are at too low of a rpm you will break stuff.

well i wouldn't even attempt to even try that until you get the engine ported and bored. nitrous isn't really a good thing until you have all you can get out of your engine with bolt ons and upgrades and such i suggest not getting nos at all till you put a little more time and money into the engine. i understand you want to go fast put do it right

While using nitrous oxide will hurt the long term longevity of the motor (and by that i mean, having it on a high mileage car, or using it for a long long time) if you install it PROPERLY, and have it tuned PROPERLY, and use it PROPERLY (meaning knowing when to activate the nitrous) the danger to blowing or hurting your engine will be minimal...its no more harmful to an engine than a turbo, or not changing your oil on time, or any number of the other things you can do to destroy your car.

If you stay with a low 35-55 shot, you should have ZERO problems. So if you want it to last, do it right the first time...With that being said, I would save your money and turbo the car, while its only $600 for the basic setup, your looking at hundreds more if you add a bottle warmer, remote openers, larger bottles, or a second bottle, and all the tank refills you'll be doing, plus, with a turbo you always have boost (and it will eventually cost almost the same), and with nitrous it only lasts for those few seconds.

So then do you suggest a turbo over a NOS setup, because I do want something great and all but it is also the car I drive everyday.....so It needs to last for a while. Can I get a turbo kit for around that same price (600) ?

turbo is way safer than nitrous could ever be. Think of it this way a turbo is like some one pushing softly then pushing you harder and harder. with nitrous it is like a punch the power is there right away

There's a Hahn Turbo kit listed on MP for 03-05 neons.
I've heard good things about Hahn's turbo kits but, honestly I do hope money isn't a factor for you.... I.E $4499.99!

It's probably what I'm getting for my '05, if I can ever afford it.

It's either that or you can get an SRT-4 turbo from a wrecked donor SRT-4. I believe going this route would save you alot more money.
