My 2005 Neon SXT w/automatic has been getting 27mpg commuting 25 miles a day in Denver, some highway, some city.

I averaged 32.5 mpg on a road trip to Albuquerque last month going 75-80 mph except over Raton Pass.

Depends on the speed at which I'm driving. If I'm in the city I get ****ty mileage. Doesn't matter whether I redline every gear or drive grandma style, it still seems to get about 28-30 in the city. And then depending on the speed on the highway, its usually between 35-40. I just got back from vacation a few weeks ago and I was getting 40mpg almost the entire time. I was pretty impressed. I was at about 250ish miles on when my gas guage hit halfway. I was like....whoa. Mine is a 5 speed, I drive it hard much of time, but I maintain it.

The best I got actually was 39mpg, that trip I got between 37-39mpg. We usually average 36.

My last trip I got about 41 miles to the gallon. Went 410 miles and thught that my gauges were broken. When i filled up it only took 10 gallons....even. I was amazed and I was useing 10% ethonal which usally gives me worse gas mileage. I average 35-40 but its all 70 mph driving and I love to get on it. So Im very happy with it. I also have a 5 speed 05 SXT

i drive an '01 Neon ES w/ a CAI, Straight Pipe Exhaust (w/ CAT), and a 5spd man. I have not been able to get above about 26 MPG on premium gas (93-94 oct), i put in Iridium Plugs which helped out a great deal, and changed the wires. Im gonna try a lower octane gas this week to see if it helps any..... anyone have any suggestions? I went all synthetic as well.....

Even if you drive it really hard, you should still get around 30 or more with a five speed. I really don't know too much about it, but like you mentioned try the lower octane gas. I had a 97' dohc neon 5-speed and I got around 33 on average.
