2000 neon won't start
Hi,
I've got a 00' neon. I've not been able to start it or even get my car to turnover for about 2 weeks now. I had the starter tested, and it was fine. I replaced the battery and checked every fuse. And, I've even got the code "1684", which is nothing more than just telling me that i've replaced the battery. And still, the only thing I get when I turn the key, is a click that sounds like the silanoid. If anyone can give me any ideas, I would appreciate it greatly.
Thanks

The only issues Iv had with a car refusing to start was due to a fried chip in the distributor. (it was a Geo 92')
Check your coil pack though.
Check to see if your getting voltage where it needs to be.
Start at the battery and work your way from there.
Sounds like theres an issue somewhere.
If your solinoids are firing properly when you try to crank the car (you might want to check them with a known good) Id make sure your getting the correct voltage to the starter..

I'm lost. I hade code P0123 and the neon code book said that was the throttle position sensor so I just changed it and it still runs the same but now it just gives me code 1684 which according to the neon code book it just says Driver 5 Line 4. Does anyone know what that means?
Heya I had this problem when I first bought my Neon as well. Took the starter off and ahd it tested and was fine. It would just make a click noise like it was not getting energized. Come to find out it was the positive read lead wire coming from the battery to the starter itself. Move it around and have someone try to crank the car at the same time. Hope this helps. The wire itself costs about 15 bucks from Autozone or Advanced.
hopefully youll be good with jwerstler79's advice....but if not to check you plugs wires and coil pack all at the same time (BE CAREFUL) just pull your spark plug wires off the plugs..ALL.. and try to crank the car...you should get a spark to each wire..if not then bad coil pack or wires...if you do get spark then probly bad spark plugs...peace

i had the same problem when i first got my car (used). and it turned out to be a discharged battery. The dealership put in a new one and everything was fine. make sure u clean the battery connections really well and that there was nothing wong wit the new battery.
