Yea everyone hates it...... tonight i was driving a friend home and I got pulled over because "my exhaust is loud" said the cop, oh and he said "any aftermarket parts are illegal" now this cop was studdering telling me this... and i find it a bunch of sh^% if you know what i mean.... can anyone show me where in the New Jersey Laws it says anything about aftermarket parts on your car...... if so Im gonna march my *** down there and hand them a stack of paper......... honestly i think cops are just too bored with their jobs so they need to pull people who were going the speedlimit over b/c their car is loud.... and yes i really needed to rant and rave, and now i feel better :-D

 

By law the pert must be CARB legal but your local laws may restrict what you can do to your ride. Do you knew that you can't move your cat at all because it changes your emission for the car.

 

its a bogus ticket. If you havent touched too much of your exhaust, your fine.

They really only push it on people with fart cans

anyways, I say argue the ticket. Its a stupid ticket for a stupid reason.

 

Thats lame, well here in cali they come at you like crazy for those emission things. I actually got pulled over last night for supposidely going over the speedlimit of 80 mph. But im more than sure i was in the 70's just trying to catch up to my friend in his wrx (he wasnt even going fast either). But i wasnt gunning it and this was on the way back home. The funny thing is that on the way over, we where heading to a place and we where racing all the way over to the place, it was me, my friend in his wrx, two other friends in their 240's, another friend in his civic si, and on the way over in the freeway an evo joined in. So basically a 15 min trip became a 5 min trip. Then on the way back home, all relaxed and everything, they decicde to pull me over which gets me really mad cause i know i was in the 70's but they pull me over saying i was going over 80. Unfortunitely i dont think i could fight that, well atleast not with anything i could think of. I guess the cop was assuming i was going over 80, and the streets where pretty hot. Once i got pulled over, i saw a guy get pulled over infront of me and then a minute later, a civic gets pulled over and stops behind me and on the way home after the ticket i saw atleast three more cars get pulled over. Well, im just going to end up paying another 800 something dollar ticket for speeding with no insurance. LAME cause i barely finished paying the same type of ticket like a month ago.

 

Aftermarket parts aren't illegal it just depends what u do to it like the emissions. Other than that, it seems pretty stupid. As long as u weren't revving your car in a neighborhood late at night.[&:]

 

CARB is the California Air Research Board. I tis not a sound level enforcing entity it is an emissions watchdog. After-market parts can be OK and may not be a problem but they sure can be illegal. Around here they go after the bike more. Was funny one time a guy got a ticket for his after-market muffler which due to it being a limited edition bike was actually factory stock. When the judge found out he waved to the Harley's with straight pipes was not amused though.

 

First off, never admit your wrong.
Make the cop prove it.
If hes got a radar gun on you, he should store the recorded speed, he can then show you. If he didnt, then he has no profe you were speeding.
I got out of a ticket in court because the cop hadent stored my speed.

A common "After market" bust around here are tinted windows.
I know several people who have been pulled over and had their windows "checked".

Personaly, I cant wait to get the lights on my car.
A nice pair of Xenon typs on the front, and back.
Im planning on adding some lighting behind my front bumper to add some highlit to the grill at night. Either white or blue....(shade of blue).
I know its gonna make me a target though.

 

What the cop told you is a bunch of bull. He just wanted to bust your *****. I don't know where your from but here in jersey cops carry something that measures how loud your exhaust is but i forget what the name of it is and how high it is until it is illegal. But if they don't have that on them and don't test your exhaust then they can't give you a ticket. I know this because my uncle is a cop and he told me this. It works because it has gotten me out of a ticket before.

 

yea, my friend got pulled over for having illegal tint. the cop told him to cut an X in it with a razor blade he gave him. My friend refused to do it because he just got it done. Then the cop told him to roll his windows up and he took the razor blade and cut X's in all the tint on all of his windows. My friend got really pissed and now is trying to make the city give him 200$ for the tint.

 

yeah i have had a problem to with the cops, i had a fart can on my car and 17s and just got it washed, and i was driving down a high wway and a pt cruiser passes me, and i got pulled over for doing 67 in a 45, i told the cop that i was doing 55 but no way was i going 67. I politely told him that maybe he clocked the pt and not me, he got nasty and gave me the ticket!!! i was pissed and it is a good thing i have a friend that is the DA of my town :-) he got it dropped so i got lucky, i have recently pulled off the fart can and put a flowmaster on it is so far no problems................lets hope it stays that way
