ok, heres da deal. i have an 02 auto neon dat has tranni problems. my car for sum reason shifts all gears in 1 by itself (P R N D 2 1) is it normal? it does it in 2 and obviously D too. i was told is not supposed to, as far as hondas they dont, they reach their peak and it starts shakin so u shift manually. can anyone help me?

 

thats normal. its will just red line before it shifts.

 

Ok, so on the neon, it will shift on the redline when the gear is in "1" on the automatic?

yea its a safety thing so you don't blow up your motor but i don't recommend doing it all of the time

 

yea. You shouldnt do it all the time. It will shift so you dont do something horrible to the engine.

i was told they r not suppose to. i was told in 2gens when in 1 it should only shift to 2 by itself, dats why after 1 u have 3, then u shift to 3 then D. My car in 1 shifts like D and from wut ive heard is a BIG no no. i dont recommend anyone to do it and try and wait for it to shift lol cuz it might me real bad for the engine. my mechanic told me "im goin to try it, if it shifts then its messed up and if it dont then ur engine might go" lol but anyways, im stil tryin to figure out wuts wrong, ive taken it to 4 diff shops and nothing. we'll see

 

Don't worry my car does the same thing. It's really funny how dodge can have a cpu for the neon that has ALL these stupid saftey measures, but yet is dumb as **** when it comes to adjusting to upgrades/peformance parts, my friends 95 civic's cpu will take a CAI and full exhaust and make it seem like you fing put a cam in the bitc*. Anyway that's my two cents, but

hey if you really want a good laugh, get on the high way get to like 70 and put it in "first" in your automatic, you'll scare the crap out of the passanger and it will just red line to 3rd. I see it this way I have 3 moods of driving calm (D) mild (3) and extreme (1) and well that's just dodge for you lol. I dont think I every figure out why they make the programing the way they did in the neon but oh well.
