That article is dated February of 2005 and according to the article its talking about the new platforms being used for the next gen PT cruiser, Avenger, Mitsu Lancer, Jeep Scout, and what engine configurations may be available. It also talks about the yet unnamed 5-door hatch Neon replacement...which we now call the Caliber.

Caliber = the ghey. I don't care what they do to that thing, it will always be ugly.

the caliber would be fine if it were durango sized the problem is the size of the car doesnt match the design. but sadly it seems to be smaller than a neon. o well dodge seems to be messing up its cars lately they shoulda kept the rounded edges but thats just me

DCx made a huge mistake in my opinion with the Caliber. They could of AT LEAST made a 4-door sedan variant...if they would have done it right they would have designed a Neon replacement that would have had a 2-door coupe, 4-door sedan, and then the 5-door hatch...it would have been easy to do, just look at the Civic, Focus, Mazda 3 (no coupe, but similar in idea), etc...that have/had those variants. Instead, they alienated a huge segment of buyers that simply do not want a 5-door hatchback...now Dodge has zero foothold in the sport compact market and they've lost all the market share they gained with the Neon SRT-4...

The Caliber is not smaller than the Neon...

The 2nd picture in that article is the Avenger concept, which is basically where they got the Caliber from...

I agree that they need a 4-door non-hatch variant, or maybe even a coupe...

Daimler is DUMB

DCX seems to bee doing alot of dumb **** to their vehicles these days, still don't know what was so wrong with the neon that they needed to can the line totally. As for the caliber, can anyone tell me what morondecided that hatchbacks (of any make) were cool? I thought we got rid of those in the 80's for a reason...
