Default rear mount turbo

ok, as all of you know that has read the "v8 neon" post, i am building a 96 2 doorv8 car, my question is that i saw awhile ago a twin turbo setup rear mount on a vette, the vette does not have the engine room under the hood, it is what i am thinking i am going to run into on this car, but my question is how much turbo lag would there be if i placed two turbos in the back of a 318 neon, or any 318? i was wondering if anyof you know where i can get info on rear mount turbos, how they work, and most important, there performance........becasue i am going to have to tub the car in the rear, and it would not be that hard to make alittle adjustment and have a few humps in the back where the turbos can sit..... thanks

As far as I know STS turbo's is a company that sells remote mount turbo kits and as far as them they say that their really isn't any added lag and the turbo actually stays cooler.

thanks for the info, but for 3k for a single turbo, i may have to find room to stuff in the engine bay i can make a twin turbo kit for a 318 easy enough, just lots of time at the junk yard......lol

does anyone know if they are making a plain twin turbo kit for the 318s?????

Actually I wasn't trying to push you to buying their turbo, just what their stats on remote mount kits are, you could, and should make a remote mount for cheaper, unless you just have money to burn in which case pm me for my number and address lol.

hahaha, i thought the info was good, thank you,but seems alittle complecated, or at least more complicated than building a turbomanifold, and bolting the turbos up and rollin with it the piping just seams like i am not going to have the room to run it all the way back, i thought about this when i looked at the kits, i would have to run it threw the cab of the neon, haha but it is FAR from getting to that point anyway, but a couple little t3 turbos would be nice, everyone that i have talked to around here, said that i am crazy...... but i dare to be different!!!! and if it doesnt work out i will have a nice flower pot when i am done of a twisted neon that looks like it is on hydrolics, ahahhahhahaha oh well, keep the info coming, i would like to see a 318 twin turboed to see how they ran all the piping ect ect, and what intercooler to get, i may go two seperate side mounts but iam not sure yet, remember the key is to look stockexhept for my three or four inch cowl hood

If your gonna run a 318 in it you'll probably be best to just run a single good sized turbo as opposed to a pair of smaller turbos. This should help both the wallet and space issues.

those post cat turbos spool okay on the v8. ive done both drag settups, the twin one small, one large. and the single large. usually the twin works a little better but not enough to double the price of your turbo kit. plus a few of the larger v8s like the chevy 500 seem to run better with a single. ive never done the 318 turbod but i think the twin will work better for an extra $4000. your allready gonna be broke when its done anyway

I read and saw pictures of a guy that took a 68 Barracuda with a 360. And put twin 2.2 Daytona turbos on it.

well i am also looking for the best setup for a 318, i can always make more room, with a bigger hammer jk, but the twin turbo set up is really what i want, just because of the fact going to shows, and the drag stip the car will get alot moreattention with twins, i am building the car for more go, then show, it is only going to be flat blue, so nothing really fancy at least on the outside, and remember i am going to be different, if the car takes me two three years to build, oh well but the turbos are the last thing on my mind right now, i am going to go get a few books today about tubbing and strutcal builds, so i am hoping they help, the biggest thing that i am going to have to worry about is the structure of the car, keep up the info, i will need as much of it as i can hahaha thanks
